Our story

I always thought the first visit that an owner and pet made to their veterinarian was the most important. The love at first sight coupled with rambunctious, youthful exuberance between the pet and their human(s) always makes being a veterinarian special.

Then I was asked to come out to my first in-home pet euthanasia. That youthful exuberance on the part of the pet was long gone, as it sometimes was for the owner. But it was now being replaced by a deep love, loyalty, and devotion long-formed by a bond between the two that left me in awe. While that first visit is all about securing that bond, the last is about celebrating and honoring the connection between that spiritual pet-being, whose physical journey has come to an end, and their family who will continue to cherish the memory of their beloved companion.

That first farewell from home, with all the creature comforts available to the furry friend, left an indelible impression on me. The pet was able to be totally at ease in their very own bed, without the smells, sounds, and sights of a cold and busy veterinary practice. Just as importantly, the family could focus solely on the pet in the privacy of their home. The years of terrific memories are often recounted at these times, offering an amazing insight into one of the deepest relationships between living creatures that exists on this planet.

From that point on, I have worked to ensure that pets and their families get to choose where and when they say “Farewell.”
