What to expect
Arrival
After meeting you at the location of your choosing, Dr. Lusk will help you complete the following:
-
Review and sign the in-home pet euthanasia release form, which also includes desired after-care services.
-
If you have not already pre-paid for services online via Paypal or credit card, Dr. Lusk will review the estimate upon arrival and complete any point-of-sale payments with Square.
Due to state mandated rabies testing in such cases, it is extremely important for Dr Lusk to know prior to the visit, if your pet has bitten or deeply scratched any person or animal or been exposed to a known carrier of rabies, in the past 10 days.
Sedation
When everyone is ready, a sedative will be given that will fully relax your pet. This is a great time to give your pet a tasty treat. The sedative generally takes 10-15 minutes to take effect.
Administration
Once sedated, Dr. Lusk will give the final injection: an overdose of anesthetic in the vein.
Aftercare
If Dr. Lusk is handling the aftercare, he will prepare for your pet’s transport. Please take the time you want to say your final farewell and then notify Dr. Lusk when you are ready.
